The Senior manager, IP Global Services will be responsible for the management of the entire portfolio of Pfizer’s Intellectual Property, specifically the patent and trademark docketing systems, physical records, and patent annuities. They will be primarily responsible for the overall support given to Pfizer attorneys, specialists, and patent coordinators worldwide to complete their docket entries. The Sr Manager will manage staff who coordinate the docketing of electronic mail, annuity payments and coordination of physical document management/archiving. The IPGS teams located in Peapack, NJ, New York, La Jolla, and Sandwich, UK will report to this position. As such, the Senior Manager, IP Global Services will be responsible for managing all areas of personnel performance and development for these teams.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Overall management of the patent and trademark docketing system, thru supervision and development of 8 colleagues who analyze over 100k of docketing email per year, interact with outside counsel, agents, and Pfizer’s attorneys to ensure data accuracy.
Management of the Patent annuity payment and file archiving teams including people management responsibilities for a three additional colleagues.
Collaborating with attorneys and other legal/functional business colleagues and external counsel/consultants(some at a senior level) to design and manage critical processes and projects in the areas of patent docketing, records and annuities support within predetermine deadlines and budget.
Designing and implementing audit practices and policies for ensuring accuracy of work product, data, and records.
Drafting complex and/or important documents and reports, ensuring the accuracy and execution thereof, and delivering the final work product to attorneys, other business colleagues, external counsel, and consultants.
Keeping current on IP laws and practices worldwide, ensuring that those laws and practices are applied to their areas of responsibility and ensuring that their direct reports understand and apply those law and practices to work product.
Responsibly for the data integration of acquisitions/divestitures/licenses /collaborations including data integrity checks for both Patent & Trademark portfolios.
Must Have:
Bachelor’s degree
7+ years relevant intellectual property formalities experience gained in a law firm or in-company with a focus supporting pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical companies
Demonstrated mastery in IP Portfolio Management systems and document management systems including some exposure to the maintenance of underlying rules within these
Highly Proficient in Patent & Trademark docketing, annuities, and renewals across all jurisdictions
Strong Knowledge of Patent & Trademark international filing systems and IP Laws and practices worldwide
Strong attention to detail required
