We are seeking an experienced Director of Attorney Recruiting who will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of law student and attorney recruiting, including candidate sourcing for all levels, overseeing the interview process, managing onboarding, and effectively integrating new hires into the Firm. This is an exempt full-time opportunity. This is a highly visible Firmwide position. This is a Hybrid-Remote position; The ideal candidate will be located in the Pacific Northwest Region and be able to travel to our offices in Seattle, Portland and Anchorage as needed, as well as regional events for recruiting.
Job Responsibilities:
In close collaboration with Firm leadership and practice team leaders, understand and identify recruiting needs and develop and execute recruitment strategy for meeting those needs based on best practices and market research
Direct all processes around law student, entry-level, judicial clerk, and lateral recruiting, including submission review, interviews, feedback and analysis of candidates
Formulate, administer and maintain recruiting policies, operational procedures, and practices consistent with the Firm’s vision, objectives, and diversity, equity, and inclusion goals
Effectively use active and passive talent sourcing and market research to build diverse and highly talented candidate pools for all positions
Partner with the Director of Professional Development and Diversity, the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, and hiring shareholders to strategically recruit diverse talent and meet diversity goals, including Mansfield Rule certification and diversity fellowship and scholarship programs
Design interviewing best practices and develop interview schedules and interviewer trainings based on those practices; oversee efforts to improve and optimize the candidate interview experience
Oversee the attorney offer process, including, structuring competitive compensation packages for candidates in partnership with Firm leadership
Work collaboratively with Human Resources, Marketing Communications, Business Development, Conflicts and other departments to ensure smooth onboarding and focused integration of lateral candidates
Develop and implement onboarding and integration strategy for each lateral hire, regularly assess progress and refine the approach as necessary
Define a standard integration roadmap, in partnership with Department Directors and Practice Team Leaders, and establish measurable outcomes to determine what constitutes a successful integration after a predetermined period of time
Manage and analyze firmwide attorney recruiting data; prepare and deliver presentations to Firm leadership on recruiting goals, successes, challenges, strategies, and market trends; propose hiring projections, analysis, recommendations as to hiring goals and strategies
Partner with Marketing Communications team to elevate brand, develop marketing and media profile-raising campaigns, and promote new attorney hires
Design and develop metrics to measure lateral hiring success
Oversee the summer associate program and make recommendations for improvement.
Prepare, manage, and track spend to a detailed annual department budget
Represent the Firm at various national and regional forums relating to law student or attorney hiring and recruitment
Perform other related duties as assigned
Required Skills and Abilities:
Bachelor’s degree
Minimum of ten years of experience overseeing attorney recruiting programs including lateral shareholder recruiting
Proven ability to source, retain, develop and motivate exceptional professionals
Established relationships with law schools, law firms, professional organizations and associations
Demonstrated leadership qualities, including excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills, strategic and innovative thinking, and an ability to persuade and influence
A commitment to confidentiality and strong professional and ethical standards
Executive presence, tenacity, integrity, and professionalism that will engender confidence with attorneys, administrative leadership, and prospective candidates
Strong organizational skills and ability to adjust to changing priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
Ability to use initiative and judgment to accomplish results
Excellent written and oral communication skills
High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook and Excel)
Strong attention to detail
Hours / Schedule / Location:
This is a full-time, exempt position that requires regular and predictable attendance
Travel between offices and events is required
This position reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer
This is a hybrid position may require both remote and on-site work. The employee will need to have internet access and a space to work; Lane Powell will provide a laptop and all necessary technology.
