Seward & Kissel is seeking a Document Automation Specialist to enhance our capacities for delivering document automation capabilities. The Document Automation Specialist will work side-by-side with lawyers, practice groups and departments to help draft and automate key documents, determine feasibility and advisability of automation, scope projects, update, test and troubleshoot templates to reflect applicable legal standards and rules.
Job Responsibilities
Code, test and maintain template documents, clause libraries and questionnaires reflecting applicable legal standards and rules, using document assembly and other automation software.
Work with various practice groups and departments to determine priorities in coding documents and organizing existing templates
Analyze project requirements and provide feedback on how best to structure and manage template creation.
Consult with attorneys on process and content requirements.
Develop template construction plan, milestones, implementation plan, and training materials on a project basis.
Propose best practices for document automation.
Provide training for new and existing Contract Express/HotDocs/Leaflet users
Provide ongoing support for deployed solutions and serve as point of contact for troubleshooting inquiries.
Serve as liaison with vendors for support requests, enhancement/feature requests and product development, and with technical support for upgrades and other software support issues.
Stay current on all developments in the document automation field, particularly as applied to the legal sector, and regularly report and make recommendations to the Legal Operations team on the state of the market and suggested future projects.
Support external access to firm templates in Contract Express/HotDocs/Leaflet
Assist in other related functions to align document automation with the Firm's Strategic Plan.
Job Requirements
Experience working with document automation software, including Contract Express/HotDocs/Leaflet or similar platforms
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, especially as applied to legal documents and concepts
Proficiency in utilizing technology/ ability to learn new technology and skills quickly
Professional experience with the legal industry and the provision of legal services
Knowledge of and professional experience with legal documents
Experience in a law firm or similar high-demand, fast-paced professional services environment
Demonstrated professional communication abilities. Strong interpersonal, customer service, verbal and written communications skills
Ability to organize, prioritize and re-prioritize tasks as necessary to meet competing demands
Educational/Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.)
Experience working with and producing work product from document automation software
