A Legal Assistant has a wide range of responsibilities at Waller, including both interpersonal responsibilities and administrative duties in support of its attorneys and paralegals.
Drafting legal documents when requested, including subpoenas, motions and summonses, as well as correspondence for attorney review and finalization
Filing case documents in an organized manner for easy access, electronically and/or paper
Communicating effectively and professionally with clients and attorneys as well as co-workers via email, by phone and in person
Researching local rules of court, relevant case law and precedent and acquiring relevant legal records to be utilized by the firm’s attorneys
Comfort with filing with the Courts on all levels
Assist with time entry and billing
Process expense reimbursements and invoices
Answer phones, make calls and coordinate conference calls, greet clients
Make travel arrangements
Skills and Qualifications:
Ability to take direction and work independently with little supervision
Highly organized and detail-oriented
Effective and professional interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to write clearly and professionally, with excellent proofing skills
Strong work ethic with the ability to maintain confidentiality
Strong technology skill utilizing various software programs, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint, and Adobe
3-5 Years’ experience working as a litigation legal assistant in a law firm or corporate environment
Works in typical office setting. Occasionally called upon to work hours in excess of your normal daily schedule.
